Pushing the envelope: low pressure, co-integrated and harsh media products
SMI has a history of expertise in low pressure sensing devices and high-quality
manufacturing. The company’s low pressure know-how is responsible for its rising
market share in critical automotive, medical, and industrial applications. Its attention
to quality has also enabled it to engineer unique new products, including ultra-small
sensor, a new “harsh media” pressure die for industrial and consumer applications,
a single-die co-integrated pressure sensor, custom pressure sensors and miniature
sensors in standard SOIC packages.
Low pressure
SMI offers a range of low-pressure products, reaching down to less than 10 mBar
or 0.15 PSI full scale. A large number of OEMs depend on SMI as a reliable high-volume

Integration
SMI’s expertise spans both sensors and microsystems. The company’s co-integrated
die with digital signal correction and both digital and analog interfacing offers
“smart sensing’ for automotive and medical applications, among others. SMI also
offers customers full service signal processing modules, consisting of tightly linked

Ultra-small
SMI’s attention to continuous improvement resulted in the SM5108 “sub-miniature”
die. The ultra-small size enables yield of over 25,000 die per wafer. IMAGE
Custom pressure sensors and MEMS devices
SMI has designed and manufactured a variety of custom Micro-Electro- Mechanical
Systems (MEMS), including ultra-miniature catheter sensors, strain sensors, humidity
sensors, accelerometer structures, custom pressure sensors and precision capacitive
devices. It has leveraged its experience in these areas to bring added value to

IC style packaging
SMI’s family of packaged pressure sensor products are compatible with standard SOIC
footprints. These packages allow easy mounting of pressure sensors to printed circuit
boards and come in tape-and-reel configurations. SMI also offers all of its packages
as RoHS compatible.
