Silicon Microstructures is certified under ISO9001:2000 by Underwriters Laboratories. As of October 16, 2006, Silicon Microstructures has achieved full TS16949:2002 registration.
Silicon Microstructure's Quality Policy is:
To implement and continuously improve its quality and business management systems with a target to meet customer requirements with zero defects and 100% on-time delivery.
SMI maintains an active program on quality including utilizing Advance Product Quality Planning, Control Plans, DFMEAs, PFMEAs, Process Capability Monitoring, SPC, and Measurement System Analysis. Further, SMI maintains key suppliers under a Supplier Management System to assure the highest quality of materials entering the SMI product chain.
Currently, Silicon Microstructures is shipping product to a number of automotive-grade customers with on-going program of continuous improvement towards an objective of zero defects. Applications include Manifold air-pressure, braking assist pressure monitoring, tire pressure and motion monitoring, and exhaust gas pressure monitoring.
In the drive to zero defect, SMI has implemented, in conjunction with Elmos, a computerized Manufacturing Execution System to track material, equipment, and processes. In addition, SMI has active programs of monitoring processes and electrical test using Statistical Bin Analysis. It also has implemented and is expanding the application of Parts Average Testing to find and eliminate parts that are statistically abnormal.
