MEMS Process Engineer

Summary of Position
The MEMS Process Engineer implements improvements in manufacturing of existing and next generation pressure sensors at SMI. He/she will work in collaboration with the production and R&D team to develop high yielding products with processes optimized for manufacturability. 

Essential Functions

  • Optimize MEMS fabrication processes by running DOEs and using statistical methods to monitor key process parameters and Yield.
  • Sustain and Support Production through optimization of existing processes
  • Lead and participate in successful Continuous Improvement Programs  to improve cost and  manufacturability
  • Support the development of new processes in collaboration with R&D to enable new technologies / products
  • Lead and support capital equipment projects including qualification and tool release to production
  • Analyze and verify data to disposition non-conforming material
  • Define containment, corrective and preventive actions for process failures
  • Responsible for process stability of equipment and documentation for assigned production modules
  • Document and present  process changes and experimental results to process review board
  • Train Operators and solicit feedback to optimize manufacturability
  • Create and update product documentation


Education, Skills ans Experience Required

  • MS degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Materials Engineering or Physics
  • Capability to design DOE`s and draw conclusions to optimize processes and their stability
  • Ability to work with in a class 100 clean room with chemicals used in semiconductor/MEMS manufacturing
  • Problem solving, project management and good time management skills
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Power point) and Statistical software tools
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-Starter, self-motivator is expected with the ability to work effectively in a team environment

 
Additional desired Skills and Experience

  • Hands on experience in cleanroom environment and in MEMS fabrication
  • Knowledge of standard metrology equipment used in semiconductor/MEMS fabrication
  • Experience with formal release of procedures, yield management and SPC
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 or TS16949 quality systems is beneficial
