ELMOS focuses on four key product areas for its ASSPs: products that help sense,
such as motion detectors and pressure sensors; products that help drive,
such as motor control ICs; products that connect the car’s systems in a network;
and standard supply products such as controllers and converters for LEDs,
sensors, and power.
In 2007 ELMOS pushed ahead with the expansion of its ASSP line. The most strategic
of these products are based on patented processes such as HALIOS® (High
Ambient Light Independent Optical System), which enables contactless three-dimensional
detection of objects or motion. The technology has already been adopted by Valeo
for Citroën for lane departure warning systems, and “touch-less switch” applications
built around HALIOS are to be implemented in consumer electronics applications,
such as remote controls, MP3 players, telephones, and computer peripherals.
Another technology, VirtuHall®, which enables sensorless and efficient
drive of EC motors, provides a competitive edge for both ELMOS and its customers.
In 2008 ELMOS introduced the world’s first FlexRay™-star coupler. The ELMOS FlexRay™
IC E910.56 is a fourfold star coupler, which can be roused via the network and has
its own SPI diagnosis interface at its disposal. Thus the IC enables a comprehensive
functionality for diagnostics coupled with error detection and correction. The E910.56
allows for a low-priced and space-saving intelligent FlexRay™ network management.
The ASSP products in many cases are applicable for both automotive and non-automotive
use, but are designed and produced to strict automotive standards.
