Refrigeration systems are utilized in a variety of applications from supermarket freezers to roof top chillers and very often rely on compression for their ability to cool. Compressors work by compressing refrigerant into liquid form before being allowed to rapidly expand back out into a gas. This process creates a drop in the vapor temperature which then cools the air in the environment (freezer, room, etc.). This process relies heavily on controlling the pressure during compression, which is typically monitored by a pressure sensor. SMI makes a variety of sensors that can be utilized in such systems.
