Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR)

Exhaust gas recirculation is a technique utilized to reduce emissions by dropping the in-cylinder temperature during combustion. This helps with emissions be reducing the amount of NOx gases that are created. Pressure sensors are used to monitor and control the flow of exhaust gases in the system. Being in the flow of exhaust gases, the pressure sensor being used must be extremely robust to harsh chemicals and high temperature. SMI provides a unique solution by utilizing platinum metallization to standup to the harsh environment.
