Overview

The SMI 5000/ SMI 6000/ SMI 7000 series offers pressure ranges from 0.07 to 2.49 PSI in a gauge, differential or asymmetric differential configuration. This series provides JEDEC standard SOIC-16 package with dual vertical or horizontal porting option. With the dual porting, a reference measurement is possible to minimize errors due to changes in ambient pressure.

Combining the pressure sensor with a signal-conditioning ASIC in a single package simplifies the use of advanced silicon micro-machined pressure sensors. The pressure sensor can be mounted directly on a standard printed circuit board and a high level, calibrated pressure signal can be acquired from the digital interface. This eliminates the need for additional circuitry, such as a compensation network or microcontroller containing a custom correction algorithm.

The AccuStable brand stands for <1% total error band initially and <1% shift during operation over a 10 year lifetime. Qualification is based on 1,000 hours HTOL (High Temperature Operating Life) test at 85°C with 5V.

The proof pressure for the SMI 7000 (maximum operating pressure range 0.29 PSI) is 1.5 PSI. The SMI 6000 (max operating pressure range 0.79 PSI) has a proof pressure of 4.5 PSI and the SMI 5000 (max operating pressure range 2.49) offers a proof pressure of 12 PSI.
